News Flash!

Carly Simon finally tells who was the inspiration for "You're So Vain".

Apparently it wasn't Warren Beatty after all.

Ok, Pictures

Just lots and lots of pictures.  Miss Boo fetched the camera her own self today and told me it was time to take some.

When Brother forgets to hang on, he can stand by himself.  But he looks on it a little like a pilot falling asleep in the cockpit--maybe nothing bad happened, but you shouldn't bank on it to take regular naps, dang it!

We found a dried-up old poppy outside today and brought it in, all happy to have a flower.  Maybe adults are too demanding about their outdoor beauty?

"Hey, Mom.  Quit taking pictures of her.  Just because I was eating doesn't mean you can't take a picture of me."

"Mama, you do it Mama.  You do it again Mama.  Take a picture of me."

Ok, back in time: this is Valentine's at Grammy and Baba's, with marshmallow lollypops from the Great Grandparents.  (They're not just awesome, they're grrrrreat!")

Coloring Valentines for Daddy and everybody else in the free world.

Trying to decide, with a sweaty naptime head, which end of the lollypop to eat.

(In the end we deconstructed the lollypop and ate it in pieces.)

That's it for today.  Tomorrow maybe I can catch them "playing numbers" downstairs, i.e. being sneakily homeschooled in math.

The Sickies

...Yeah.  So there aren't pictures on this post, but there are pictures in my camera; I just am taking my extra moments between wiping noses and saying "SHARE the number zero!" (it's made of this foam stuff that floats in the bathtub) to do things like shower or pay the bill for the tags on my car.  We've been having an interesting week.

Somehow during naptimes I managed to put in enough writing on my novel that I'm now at 20,600 words.  (That sounds like a lot, but in the end it'll probably be much closer to 100,000 and need to be trimmed.  Someday, someday, maybe I'll get paid for the thing.

It's amazing how much work there is to do in a house when you've been gone for 2 weeks, even though there's been no people or dogs there to mess it up.  Dusting, vacuuming, airing, laundry, mopping, scrubbing all have to be done and more so.  I don't know why this always surprises me, but it always does.

Today we're slowly recovering from our head colds, getting the house back online after a week of trying, settling in with a new batch of library books (incidentally the library has become the ultimate bribe for Miss Boo-- "Come on, let's pick up our toys and then we can go to the library!"), and discovering that there are ways to teach preschoolers math and "science experiments".  Preschool science is very messy.

Also, a tiny coffee can of beans is the best toy ever.

Now, off to make a chart of bedtime rules for Miss Boo, since we are into charts and stickers lately and since Mama and Daddy are getting desperate to break the "I want to watch Magic Schoolbus!" cycle that occurs every single night.

Breanna

Home Again!

But busy as what Miss Boo calls "big bumbabees".

It's lovely to be back in our own house!

I'll post pictures soon.

We're At Grammy's

Is that enough of an explanation for my blogging drout?  The Husband had to go to Texarkana on a business trip (read: involves wearing steeltoed boots and a slicker and working night shift--ug, the things engineers have to do during construction of new plants), and I concluded that I didn't want to stay by myself with the children for two weeks.

(So, would-be theives, if you've figured out where our empty house is, I suppose now is the ideal time to break in and steal my...um... valuable... well, ok, we don't really have any valuables....)

We've been very busy with the cousins, Grammy, and Baba.  To wit:

Brother has been busy pulling hair.  Cleverly, Boy Cousin has even less hair than Brother.  That's strategy for you.

Miss Boo and Girl Cousin have been busy coloring.

And "runnin! jumpin! runnin!"

And tandem coloring-jumping (they took turns).

Meanwhile the boys are in training to be male models, and the dogs are running amok.  Well, Padraig is running amok.  Tommy doesn't run anywhere anymore.

We are having lots of fun, and will try to keep you posted. :)

Cheers,

Breanna
